A week in a writer's Life

Hey gang!

I spent a few days playing with the girls at Romance Bandits. We had a wonderful time and what an interesting read of creative inspiration from a lot of fabulous writers. Go check it out and see what writers do for fun. Romance Bandits

Here are a few other things I did this week for fun.

Yeah, for those of you freezing in the snow throughout your winter days – this should inspire you to move to sunny Florida. Most days this is what we do in the winter.

Don't worry...I didn't do it. But the devil in me sure thought about it. :-D

Stop laughing - that's the only size I've caugh so far and they've got to be toss back in. Hey, I'm new at this fishing stuff.

Now, our evenings go more like this in my family…car shows. Yap, me DH is into the cars. And he loves his hot rod. Her name is Vicky. She’s his winning baby…and her trophies are about to over fill our garage.

Yes, I do work…my work time is spent entertaining a very demanding little monster named Zeus…my yorkie-poo

and writing books. I don’t have the heart to show you my messy den….Trust me, it’s a mess right now. I’m working on three book at one time…so it’s a major mess.

So share with me...what have you been up to this week?

Hawk

Hey Hawk:

Wonderful pictures, I am so jealous. It has been well below zero here and the snow keeps falling, there is no where to put it anymore! My pooches don't even want to walk - too cold on their paws. Oh, well this too will pass.

I've been working overtime at my day job big time and am pretty spent but it's the weekend.

I'm only online for a few minutes and then I'm getting back to my reading.

Wow- sounds and looks like you had a great time! I love the vintage car.

My husband co-owns a race car. It is his passion in life that's for sure.

All the best ((((hugs))))

Hawk, we loved playing with you! You are more than welcome in the Bandits' Lair any old time, so come on over and play with us! *g*

Your pictures are pretty envy-inspiring, I must say. It was bitterly cold this morning (in NC!!) and I spent three hours with numb toes selling GS cookies outside a grocery store. Oh, the glamor! *g*

I could definitely use some of your sunshine.

Hey, Hawk, wanted to say thanks for adding your brilliance to the Banditas' RNTV invasion. We had a ball - I'm still seriously creeped out by the ghost and Derek. Eeeeeek! Nice to know someone in the US isn't iced in!

Hi Hawk!
Another Bandita popping by to say how much we appreciated you participating with us in our RNTV Invasion. It is so much fun to hang out with talented and fun writers!

Besides doing that this week, I've also been reading Rita books (books I've been sent to judge for the RWA Rita contest) and trying to squeeze in some writing time.

Zeus is adorable! I have a Yorkie Unholy Terrier and a Pug-Wa-Wa who boss me around.

Hey Hawk! It was so much fun at romance novel tv this week! Your stuff was great!! Really, some of those endings should definitely be turned into a book. Hope you'll come by Romance Bandits sometime soon and play with us. :-)

Your photos are drool-worthy! I'm out in California so we've got plenty of sunshine but it looks downright balmy where you are. Lucky! Oh, and your DH's car is fantastic! I love it!!

See you soon!

Hi, Hawk--

Thanks for stopping by to play on RNTV this week! Your endings were great.

This week, I've been doing the usual--teaching, trying to revise, occasionally moaning about same. :-)

The weather here has been cold--at least, what passes for cold in the Piedmont Carolinas. Your pictures look so inviting!

Hi, Hawk, I followed the link and thought I'd say hi after "talking" with you at RNTV. And wasn't that fun??!!

I've been working on my latest WIP and getting interrupted by mundane Saturday things. Envy you the beautiful weather and sailing!

LOL, I'd thought you'd react that way...I did that on purpose you know...it was the devil in me.

Oh - race cars! Me Dh is also into Nascar. What team are you part owner too? Or are you into the dirt tracks right now? Pinks?
Are you anywhere close - so we could come see your car race? That would be fun.

Stay warm darlin'

Caren! OMG! A beautiful Bandit is here! OMG, I'm so flattered you came by to visit!

All my girls - look who's here! Oh, you've got to click on her picture and check her site...it's wonderfully interesting! She's a bandit that I played with this week!

Caren, NY - ah, way too cold up there right now to be selling GS...but if you bring some down I've got a nice guesthouse that opens up to the heated pool area that you can stay in to warm up.
LOL, gosh, the devils in me this week...I had to rub the sunshine in...LOL

Yes, I will stop by to visit the bandit's lair...and remember my lair's open should you ever find yourself down this way!

Anna!

OMG, another bandit!

LOL, sorry about creeping you out with the ghost bride...but if you want more chills...I based it off a true story that happened to a friend of mine with a ghost.
ROTFLOL, honey, I can feel you shaking from here...it's o.k., they really can't hurt you...the blood red fingernails were just my creative touch to shock the readers...I tend to do that when I write. LOL

I had such a super time with you girls! I intend to drop by and visit often!

Thanks for coming by to visit with me today.

Another Bandit...OMG an invasion is happening this morning right here on my site!
THANK YOU for coming by.

I so enjoyed the few days I had with you girl's...I was sad to see it end.
I'm so grateful to my friend Vicki Lane who was having such fun there, she told me to go visit. And I'm glad I did.

Good luck with the Rita book entries...that can't be an easy job...too many great writers I'm sure.

Ah, the squeeze of writing time...I hear you on this. When you find the secret to finding that time...LET ME KNOW!!! PLEASE!!!!!

My adorable Zeus...he's a hand full but I love him! He's 3/4 yorkie and 1/4 poodle.
LOL on your unholy one...got any picutre on your site? I'll check it out.
What's a Pug-Wa-Wa?
Oh, I beginning to think all dog's think they're the boss...it's just a good thing we love 'em, huh?

Kate!

I can't tell you how much fun I had with the Romance Bandits! It was awesome and I hated the fact that it had to end.

The idea was great because it gave writers a chance to express their creative sides and yet still be interesting enough for the non-writers to read.
That's why I hope my blog friends will go visit!

I'm inspired by your kind words about my writing. I'm a published author in articles but not books YET. So from RWA standards I'm an unpubbed. But, I've got two books written (that I'm about to send out) and I'm working on a third that I hope an agent or publisher will read one day and discover what you think are creative endings...Ah, one day...right?

Oh, I'll drop by today to play with the Romance Bandits...I've got a bit of an outlaw in me, ya' know. :-D

Oh, I was a California girl for years. North or south? I love the place!
I'm a Westcoast kind of girl.

My DH's loves his babe...I'm the grease monkey that fixes it. Yap, I do the work on her.
If you're ever out this way, drop by and visit...HD will give you a ride in his Vicky as long as your 5'6" and under...any taller and you can't fit in....she's cropped and dropped that much.

I'm so glad I found you again. I've worn the Romance Bandit pin on my chapter badge since you give it to me.

I had such a great time this week with you girls. You're all just awesome women!

What do you teach?

Piedmont Carolinas!! Why honey, you're just over the line! Come on down! We'll have a writers party!

Super hugs

Hi Jo...

To my bloggers - Jo is another bandit. And I'm so excited about their visits because they are all wonderful writers...click their logos and check out their sites if you want to be enticed into the world of romance.

Jo, I had a great time. Thank you for all your kind remarks. You girls are FUN!

Hey, are you a witch yet?
LOL...I finally "got it" when I read back a few remarks...last week I had done a blog about witches so I was confused. But, if you know me...you know I'm confused most of the time...it can't be helped...I'm Irish.

Hi Hawk! Thanks for playing with us during the Bandit invasion at RNTV last week!

Those pictures remind me of living on the Southwest Florida Gulf Coast and laughing at my friends in colder climes. Now that I live in upstate SC, where it was 22 the other morning, I don't do much laughing.

Love dh's car! One of my neighbors restores antique and classic cars. They are so beautiful.

I think I remember seeing you at M&M. Maybe next time we'll get to meet.

Hey, Hawk! We Banditas had a lot of fun with you all too! We were amazed at the talent that emerged and the great twists you all put on the stories.

I know at least one editor who had a bit of a look at what was going on there:)

Tina M. Russo said...

I agree. Wonderful pictures. And like Leah I have been doing major overtime. But seeing your pictures made me smile. ThankS!!

Vicki said...

Wow, looks like you're having a Bandit party here too. How cool is that!

I'm so glad you went over and played after I told you about it. I also told several others, but you and me were the only ones to play and it was so much fun.

Of course your bride had me calling you to know more. Seriously, I'm thinking you need to write dark paranormal. :)

Heehee, which is cool cause I'll get to read it as your cp. :D

And Christine, an editor was taking a peek last week???

Hi Hawk -

Another bandita dropping in to compliment you on your endings to the RNTV vignettes. Very Impressive!

BTW - I flew from icy cold Ohio down to Orlando this past week for a family funeral. Where was the sun???? I understand it was sunny on Wednesday when I was stuck on the airport tarmack for eight hours (grrrr). I didn't arrive till 8 PM. Thursday was rainy, Friday got chilly, Saturday was cold. Bummer! Hopefully everything will heat up by April when I return for RT. Are you going?

Donna MacMeans said...

BTW Hawk - Seems like the third manuscript is the charm for many writers - it worked that way for me (grin). I'd written two romantic suspenses before the historical that won the Golden Heart and eventually sold - so digits crossed that this one is THE one.

Houston A.W. Knight said...

PJ,

Awesome to have you drop in!
Oh, I wish you still lived down here (always nice to have fellow writers near by)but SC isn't that far away...I've got an open door for friends.

LOL, everyone loved my DH's baby...she brings home a lot of top awards to show how much people love her. She's a 1930 ford Vicky. Cropped and dropped for the hot rod look
Oh, sweet...your neighbors restores antique and classic cars. They must be beautiful....and you get a private show just watching him leave the house with them.

I plan to go to the M&M again this year...heck sweetie, we've already met...let's connect and find some time for some major chatting!

Hey, that's really what I hoped the pictures would do for those stuck in the cold temps. Let them know it will get warm again soon.

Don't work too hard...unless it's on a book! {;-D And thanks for dropping by.

Vicki!

Yes, we did have a great time didn't we!

Thank you for giving me the heads up about the Bandits. You know me, I get my head into the computer and forget to look up...too busy writing stories to know what's happening in the real world...hardly do I snoop around on the net to see awesome things like the Bandits...hugs big time for letting me know about the fun that was happening.

You're the best! And you know I adore you.

OMG! An editor was looking...Oh gosh now I wish I had taken more time to write them. I was just fooling around - PLAYING!!

Hugs Babe!

Donna,

You girls are going to give me a big ego! LOL...I can't thank you enough for all the wonderful compliments you and the other Bandits have given me. It's sure nice to hear when you're in the submitting stage...it gives me hope I will be discovered.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. You've got my prayers and hugs. xoxox

Florida has fickle weather...it starts out cold in the mornings then you get a warm and sunny moment on the beach sometime during the day...then it starts to get cold again...when you live here you can tell when the warm moments are about to happen and you get going...
You were inland so I can imagine it stayed cool during the day but I live over near the beach...it's warmer near the gulf...so you can catch the warm spots of a day and really have a good time in winter.

April is great in Florida...but I'm usually never here...I'm usually in Vegas at that time of year. My twin lives there and I go visit her for a few weeks. But yes, it should be very nice then.

No, I won't be going to the RT this year...I'm going to the M&M. Will I see you there, at the M&M?

Hi Hawk - late as always (I blame the time difference *g*), but I thought I'd drop by too and say hi from snowy England! We rarely get snow of any kind and today we've had almost 2"!

Thanks for joining in the fun at RNTV - we Banditas had a blast and so enjoyed all the contributions you guys made. That interrrogation room scene of yours on Day 4 still gives me chills!

Look forward to seeing you in the Lair - don't be a stranger *g*.

And good luck with your submissions - I'm on my latest round of revisions, hoping that this time the editor will buy me. Fingers crossed.

Houston A.W. Knight said...

Anna!

Wow - England! Are you just visiting there or do you live there?

I'm so happy you loved the interrogation room...I almost wrote out the whole scene...it was going to turn into a super hot sexy love scene...or that's how I had it in my mind. Maybe next time I visit the lair I'll write out the rest of the scene just to fire you guys up! LOL

Oh hon, I've got my fingers crossed for you and your book...it will sell...
I'll send my thoughts your way. And let me know when it does...I could do a special announcement on my blog and a give away... Just let me know!

Hugs darlin'
