WIN, WIN, WIN A FREE BOOK!

TWO E BOOK GIVE AWAY!!!

TAKING A CHANCE ON FOREVER ~ Have you ever heard of a better title?

TAKING A CHANCE ON FOREVER is a wonderful book published by BookStrand and written by Anna Small. I usually don’t do book reviews and I’m not going to start now, BUT…I do have to tell you this is an AWESOME, funny and at times will make you cry kind of book. I LOVED IT!

What would you do with a second chance at love?

When Dan broke her heart 20 years before, Kate never expected to see him again - especially at her daughter's wedding to his son. Thinking that the sparks between them have long since died, she agrees to stay at his B&B when all the hotels are sold out. After all, it's only for a weekend, and then they'll never see each other again. But destiny has other plans.

Please, I’d like all of you to meet Anna Small.

Hi Anna, thanks for coming by today.

I’m glad to be here!

Now the plot of this story is running into an ex, that could happen to anyone of us…but you put such a cute twist to it when you made the heroine’s daughter ENGAGED to the heroine’s ex-boyfriend’s son, an ex the heroine still has feelings for…how on earth did you come up with this plot?

A friend from college and I were chatting on FB and he mentioned his son was thinking about going to our school. I said my daughter had the same thought. He then said, “Wouldn’t that be cool if they met and got married?” I instantly saw a story in that line alone, but then realized that the real story is if the parents had a background. Authors are always asking “what if” and that’s what I asked: what if former lovers are forced back together 20 years later because their children fell in love in college?

When I first started reading this book I thought OMG this will be a touchy subject…but you handled it with a skill only a wonderful writer like you can do. What made you dare to go near such a sensitive subject?

I had to make Kate’s baby daddy be someone you don’t really want her to end up with (sorry, Marc!) and Dan’s fiancée a little too over the top for him. Okay, that’s a spoiler alert, but, hey, this is a romance and we all know how it will end! (wink) I didn’t want there to be any “cheating” so I made the fiancée a free spirit who is probably already cheating on Dan, and Kate hadn’t seen her daughter’s dad in years.

What do you base most of your stories on? Your personal experience or do you draw from the writer’s realm of the creative unknown?

I get ideas all over the place, but the themes are common to most people, I guess. Falling in love, struggling to overcome problems - but always a happy ending. As I research a place or idea, more ideas spring from that. The hard part is weeding out the bits that will make the story richer.

For characters, I tend to base the female characters on real people or my own reactions to life. I could never write a Scarlett O’Hara character because that’s who Margaret Mitchell was. Not me! I’m more of a Melanie than a Scarlett. The heroes are all out of my head, or based on character types in my favorite movies. I like “alpha males” like the heroes Russell Crowe plays, for example – strong and fearless, but still human.

If you had to compare this book’s plot to chocolate which would it be and why? Bitter Sweet chocolate, Milk chocolate, Semi-Sweet chocolate, Dark chocolate, or a Cherry Filled chocolate?

I would say bittersweet, since Kate and Dan have their past problems to deal with besides a whole host of new ones. As the story begins, Kate is about to embark on a new career in New York, and Dan is based in California. Kate chased her dream once before, and that’s what broke them up.

What would you like the readers to know about this book?

The story is set it San Francisco and Carmel, two places where I’ve been many times. I hope I captured the misty weather, the sights and sounds and tastes of these two gorgeous areas. I like to transport readers into the heart of the story, and I think the setting helps do this. Incidentally, the winery in the book is a real place. I spoke with its wedding coordinator a few times to get the feel of a real wedding there.
